From Marrakesh To Merzouga Desert

Along the way, you will stop at the renowned kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient fortified citadel is an architectural masterpiece, characterized by its authentic adobe towers and winding streets. You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in this cinematic setting, as many film and television productions have chosen this site as a filming location.

After Ait Benhaddou, you continue your tour through the Valley of Roses, known for its magnificent gardens and rose crops. At the end of the day, you will reach the Dades Valley, where you will spend the night in comfortable and authentic accommodation. Enjoy a peaceful evening and a delicious traditional Moroccan meal.

On the second day, you will venture further into the desert towards Merzouga. After breakfast, you set off to explore the Dades Valley, with its impressive rock formations nicknamed “monkey fingers”.

Along the way, you explore the Todra Valley and walk through its impressive limestone gorges. The cliffs of the Todra Gorge rise more than 300 meters high, creating a narrow gorge that winds around 15 kilometers in length. The steep and imposing rock walls make this place a true paradise for rock climbing enthusiasts, attracting climbers from all over the world.

After this visit, you reach Merzouga, a small village which marks the beginning of the Sahara desert. What makes Merzouga so special are its immense sand dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see. Within the magnificent landscapes of Merzouga, you have the opportunity to stay in charming kasbahs. Nestled in the heart of the desert, this kasbah offers you a luxurious and authentic refuge, where modern comfort blends harmoniously with the traditional atmosphere.

You will wake up early to admire the magical spectacle of the sun slowly rising over the dunes, painting the sky and sand with shades of gold and pink. After this magical moment, and after a typical breakfast, the sweet scent of freshly brewed coffee caresses your nostrils, while the crusty breads and artisanal jams promise you a morning feast. Energized by this meal, you prepare to embrace a new day of adventures and surprises. You will ride a camel for an excursion through the dunes of Erg Chebbi, to the Berber camp in the heart of the desert.

After a day exploring the dazzling landscapes of Merzouga, you arrive at the camp at dusk. Berber tents, tastefully decorated and adorned with colorful carpets, stand proudly in the sand. You are warmly welcomed by the desert inhabitants, who offer you mint tea, a symbol of hospitality and welcome. As the night spreads its starry mantle above you, you settle comfortably around the central campfire. The dancing flames cast their soft, comforting glow, creating an intimate and friendly atmosphere. The captivating rhythms of Berber tambourines resonate through the air, inviting you to let yourself be carried away by their hypnotic cadence.

In the morning you will return to Merzouga on camels, where you can freshen up and have breakfast. Then, you will take the road towards Marrakech, once again crossing the impressive landscapes of the Atlas.
